The Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress program recycles more than 1 million mattresses each year in California and provides a no-cost way to responsibly dispose of mattresses and box springs. Here’s how to access the program:
- Drop off mattresses and box springs for free at participating locations. Visit ByeByeMattress.com to find the nearest one.
- Schedule a bulky item pick-up [include details if mattresses collected in this manner are sent to participating recyclers or delete if not an option in your area]
- If purchasing a new mattress and having it delivered, ask your retailer about taking the old one back. All retailers must offer to do this. It is the law.
- Here is the video on 3 Ways to Recycle Your Mattress
Thanks to this program, these units are diverted from landfills and used to make other useful products such as carpet padding, insulation, filters and mulch. The program also helps our [county/city] combat illegal dumping.
